US 21 / STATESVILLE ROAD WIDENING, U-5771, MECKLENBURG COUNTY

The NCDOT project will widen Statesville Road (US 21) in Huntersville by adding additional lanes, medians, and bicycle and pedestrian accommodations. The plans also call for what the NCDOT calls “innovative intersection configurations” to improve traffic flow.

While right-of-way acquisition has already begun on U-5771, construction on the project is not set to begin until late 2024. Note that U-5771 covers Statesville Road south of NC 73; project U-5767, which includes those portions of Statesville Road north of NC 73, has been delayed.
